Dive into our Marine Collagen + C

Following the popularity of our Antiox Beauty Collagen, we bring you our Marine Collagen + C.

In case you’ve been living under a rock and don’t know what collagen is; Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body and provides structure for bones muscles, skin and tendons. As we age the body’s ability to naturally replenish collagen decreases, so that’s when supplementation steps in.

Marine Collagen + C

This new kid on the block is unflavoured so can be added to basically anything to give you a collagen kick - throw it in your morning juice or smoothie or even add it to your cooking (keeping in mind heat can damage the vitamin C). A serving size of as little as 1-3g of collagen has been shown to improve skin appearance such as fine lines and plumpness, who doesn’t want that? Within 6 weeks you should start to notice enhanced hydration in the skin, and within 12 weeks improvement with skin wrinkling and elasticity.

You’re probably wondering the difference between Antiox Beauty Collagen and Marine Collagen + C is – As the name suggests, the Marine Collagen + C is simply 97% collagen with added Vitamin C. Antiox Beauty Collagen is 45% collagen but provides a little extra oomph than its fellow companion. While it still contains Marine Collagen and Vitamin C, it also comprises of; Zinc, Selenium, Silica, Vitamin E, L-cysteine, L-Glycine, Biotin and a bunch of antioxidants that help combat oxidative stress (imbalance between free radicals and antioxidants in your body). The added Selenium also assists in the production of optimal hair and nail strength, making it an all-around beaut!

Now you’ve heard both sides to the story, it’s time to decide which side to choose.

How does Marine Collagen +C Taste?

Marine Collagen +C does not have any added flavours, so we have labeled this product as ‘Unflavoured’; however, natural Marine Collagen has a characteristic mild fishy taste.

How much do I use?

We recommend that you take 1 tablespoon (6g) per day. However, serving sizes as small as 1-3g of collagen has been shown to improve skin appearance.

The product says 1 tablespoon is 6 g.  Shouldn’t a tablespoon be 20 g?

The product density actually changes the volume of powder, so whilst with water, a 20 mL tablespoon might equal 20 g of water, this is not the same for different powders.  This powder is “fluffier” and therefore takes up more room by weight, so therefore less product by weight fits in a tablespoon.  Think 1 tonne of bricks vs 1 tonne of feathers.  Same weight, but far different volume.

How do I use it?

Marine Collagen +C is unflavoured to make it easy to include in a variety of every day uses. Feel free to add it to existing recipes in your diet such as juices, smoothies, bliss balls, coffee or chia pudding.

Can Marine Collagen +C be used in hot beverages or baking?

Marine Collagen +C can physically be used in hot beverages or baking, however, there will be some loss of heat sensitive nutrients, like vitamin C, which is sensitive to heat, so break down when heated.

Can Marine Collagen +C be used in the freezer, like ice cream?

Go ahead! There’s no problem in using Marine Collagen +C in frozen recipes.

Can I take it while pregnant or breastfeeding?

YES! Marine Collagen +C is absolutely perfect for pregnancy and breastfeeding!

Can I give it to my children?

YES!! Marine Collagen +C is safe for all ages and stages.

Is Marine Collagen +C Gluten Free?

Yes.

Is Marine Collagen +C Vegan or Vegetarian?

No, the Hydrolysed Marine Collagen is derived from fish.  There is no such thing as vegan collagen; actual collagen must come from animal sources.

What is Collagen?

Collagen is the most abundant protein in the human body and provides structure for bones muscles, skin and tendons. The ability to replenish collagen naturally decreases as we age. Collagen fibers in aged skin become thicker and shorter, impacting the skin’s structure, elasticity, and firmness. However, as it is required for a variety of tissues, it has many more functions beyond healthy skin.

What are Hydrolysed Peptides? Why do we use them?

Collagen is a protein. Protein is made of amino acids which are bound together in chains, called peptides. The chemical bond holding protein together can be broken down and pre-digested (hydrolysed) so the small peptides can be easily absorbed from the intestines into circulation. Because they can be absorbed easier, they are more bioavailable and can be used throughout the body where needed most.

What Type of Collagen is Marine Collagen +C?

Marine collagen is made from what is known as a type I collagen, the most abundant collagen in the human body. Type I is found throughout the body but best recognised for providing the foundation for beautiful skin, strong connective tissues, and sturdy bones. Marine Collagen has been clinically shown to increase the formation of both type I and III collagens within the body.

How long will it take to see results?

Marine Collagen itself starts to show significant positive effects on skin hydration after 6 weeks, and effects on skin wrinkling and elasticity after 12 weeks.  Generally, it takes 27-42 days for the skin to renew itself (the newest formed cells to reach the top).  This process slows down as we age.  This means it will likely take at least a month before you start to notice any differences.
