INTRODUCING Gutsy Kidz - The All-In-One Gut Food For Little Ones!

No matter your age, gut health will always be the cornerstone of wellness. Whether you suffer from discomfort, bloating, diarrhea, constipation, or simply want to improve energy and wellbeing, the first place any naturopath will tell you to start is in your tummy. And this is no different for our little ones, some might say more so since they are in their formative years.

Research suggests that a poor balance of bacteria in the gut during early childhood can increase the risk of gut-related allergies, asthma and eczema. The gut is also linked to immune function, nutritional status and even mental wellbeing (you get butterflies in your tummy for a reason). It’s therefore essential that we support our gut flora, nourishing it with the right foods, because as it flourishes, so can our little ones. And more than just probiotics, we also need to fuel our microbiome with a wide range of prebiotic fibres, polyphenols and nutrients.

So nurture your wee one’s wellness at the core and give them the absolute best start in life with our BRAND NEW Gutsy Kidz, the berrylicious all-in-one gut food that provides your child with all the tools they need to shine inside out!

FAQs

How do you take Gutsy Kidz?

To enjoy this berrylicious formula, simply mix 6 g (approx. 2 teaspoons) of Morlife® Gutsy Kidz in 100 mL water, milk, smoothies or other recipes.

Can Gutsy Kidz be used with other probiotics?

There is no harm in combining another probiotic with Gutsy kids, but it also may not be necessary as it contains 10 billion cfu and has 5 different strains.

My child is constipated, should they take Gutsy Kidz?

Constipation can be tricky, if you are normally able to get them moving with say some stewed fruits, then yes they will be fine to take Gutsy Kidz, just make sure they are drinking plenty of water throughout the day, as any fibre product without enough water can contribute to bulking of stools and constipation. If your child requires a more medical level intervention, then Gutsy Kidz is not a suitable replacement, but could still be beneficial to their diet. If you are uncertain, it is best to speak with your child’s healthcare provider.

Can my child have all 4 Morlife junior products?

Yes, it is fine to have all 4 Morlife junior products. We would recommend having them separated, so that that product can be absorbed on its own.

How many times per day can my child have Gutsy Kidz?

There isn’t a limit as such, but up to four times a day would be our recommendation. If you decide to give this to your kid 4 times a day, make sure that it is in spaced intervals, like in the morning, lunch, afternoon and dinner time (just to allow the body to use effectively the nutrients), and make sure they are having lots of water.

Is Gutsy Kidz Vegan?

Yes, our gutsy kidz does not contain any animal product, making suitable for vegan diets.

Is Gutsy Kidz Gluten Free?

Yes! Gutsy Kidz is truly gluten free, independently tested and confirmed.

Why has it all settled at the bottom and gone thick?

When Gutsy Kids is mixed with water, if you let it sit for a while, you can see the insoluble fibre settle to the bottom of the glass. If you let it sit for longer, the soluble fibre will absorb a significant amount of water, which may result in an undesirable texture. This is why we recommend drinking it straight after mixing.

Should I take Gutsy Kids with food?

We do think Gutsy Kidz should be consumed after food as it contains zinc. This is because zinc on an empty stomach can make some people feel nauseous.

Can kids younger than 12 months of age take this product?

Yes. We recommend 12 months as by then most children have already moved on to a diet of solids where they have been introduced to a wide range of foods. For a younger child, they often require a smaller serve as their recommended nutritional intake is lower, so a half serve may be more appropriate.

Can adults or pregnant/breastfeeding woman take this product?

Yes. It is totally fine for adults & pregnant women to take this product. The recommended dietary intakes shown in the nutritional information are based on a child between 1-3 years & adult needs are generally higher, so you may want to take a larger amount to get the best nutrition as an adult.

Why would I need a powder like this?

We know that gut health is crucial to wellness is, and this is no different for our little ones, some might say more so, since they are in their formative years. Research suggests that a poor balance of bacteria in the gut during early childhood can increase risk of gut-related allergies, asthma and eczema. The gut is also linked to immune function, nutritional status and even mental wellbeing (you get butterflies in your tummy for a reason). It’s therefore essential that we support our gut flora, nourishing it with the right foods, because as it flourishes, so can our little ones. More than just probiotics, we need to fuel our microbiome with a wide range of prebiotic fibres, polyphenols and nutrients, and Morlife® Gutsy Kidz is the perfect tyke tested and approved simple solution to boost your little ones daily diet.

What is PHGG?

PHGG or Partially Hydrolysed Guar Gum is a soluble dietary fibre made from enzymatically hydrolysed guar gum. PHGG has been shown to be a truly regulating dietary fibre that helps to normalize the digestive system, with studies shown to help both diarrhoea and constipation, whilst acting as a prebiotic, maintaining digestive health and microflora balance. The fermentation process of PHGG is extremely slow resulting in a higher total amount of SCFAs that are produced over a greater period of time, leading to significantly less gas, bloating and discomfort compared to other prebiotics.

What is fibre?

Fibres are chains of carbohydrates which cannot be digested or absorbed in the small intestine. Fibre comes in different forms, mainly from plants, however for the purpose of human nutrition we simplify the classification to whether they are soluble or insoluble. Soluble fibre can absorb water and tends to slow digestion speed, making it helpful to reduce symptoms of diarrhoea; while insoluble fibre cannot absorb water & travels faster through the intestines, benefitting people suffering from constipation.

Most natural sources of fibre will include a combination of both soluble & insoluble fibre. For example, when you put flax seeds in water, they swell and form a halo-like gel on the outside as the soluble fibre absorbs water, but the hard, dark brown outer lining of the seed is made of lignin, an insoluble fibre.

What are prebiotics and why are they important?

Prebiotics tend to be fibres and therefore cannot be digested by humans, so they make it to the intestines where they can selectively stimulate the growth or activity of at least one type of beneficia bacteria. The bacteria in the intestines consume the prebiotic fibre via a process called fermentation. However, different bacteria will respond to different types of prebiotics, which we need to eat a wide and varied diet for a healthy microbiome.

Prebiotics result in many benefits to the digestive system, particularly the modulation of good vs bad bacteria, helping to increase the number of good bacteria and decrease the detrimental bacteria. This is because good bacteria tend to populate with healthy foods; while bad bacteria tend to grow when we eat unhealthy foods.

Why do we need a variety of different prebiotics?

Different fibres have been found to have different positive impacts on the gut microbiome. One reason for this is the fermentation speed. Some prebiotics ferment quickly within the colon, whereas others are more slowly fermented. This shows that having a combination allows you to feed the microbiome throughout the whole colon.

Inulin and FOS are examples of fast fermenting fibres, which contributes to the acute high degree of bloating and pain that is a common side effect from these fibres. Slower fermenting fibres, such as PHGG are gradually fermented, distributing the production of gas throughout the large intestine which results in fewer side effects.

By combining slow and fast fermenting fibres we nourish the entire large intestine, and reduce many of the uncomfortable side effects associated with increasing fibre intake.

Why do you need a range of probiotics?

We have hundreds of different types of microorganisms in our gut. Naturally, we have good microbes and bad microbes, and even some that are both. Dysbiosis is a term used for the microbial imbalance within the gut. A sufficient gut microbiome population contributes to the development of the gut and the growth of the immune system, therefore determining the risk of developing disease later in life. Of the good microbes, lactobacilli and bifidobacteria are the probiotic bacteria recognised most for their beneficial attributes. By providing a range of these bacteria, we are helping to support the natural diversity within the gut. In addition to the assortment of lactobacilli and bifidobacteria, we have included Lactobacillus GG, which has shown in several studies by supporting children’s immune systems by reducing the amount of sick days throughout the year. This probiotic is also highly studied in the prevention and treatment of allergies in children.

Can I bake with Gutsy Kidz?

You can bake some treats for you child and use our Gutsy Kidz; although some of the beneficial compounds may be damaged by heat like the probiotics, & vitamin C, but the fibre and the minerals will remain.
