Additionally, taurine can be provided in the diet by most animal proteins. High concentrations of taurine are found in heart muscle, skeletal muscle and the central nervous system. Taurine helps to maintain the movement of potassium, sodium, calcium and magnesium in and out of the cells, helping to electrically stabilise the cells.
